About Me
This is me with a copy of the portrait of Ralph Simons, C16th mason, holding his dividers, given to me by art historian and gallery owner, Philip Mould, a friend and old client.
I have spent 32 years working in and around beautiful historic buildings, newly crafted traditional homes and boutique commercial projects. My experience in Oxford Colleges (Merton, All Souls, University, Oriel and Corpus Christi), Country Estates (Blenheim, Glympton, Tusmore, Wootton Place, Abbotswood, Culham Court, Kirtlington Park, Kiddington Hall), Country Houses in The Cotswolds, The Chilterns, Wentworth Estate and Hampshire, London Townhouses and Penthouses and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons has given me a respect for the design process and an understanding of quality, integrity and above all the service required to project manage and navigate, what can at times feel like a huge task ahead full of ambiguity with multiple players.
I am a hands on Jack of all Trades who enjoys the design development stage, execution and delivery of projects. I am equally happy in a boardroom explaining the ins and outs of a projects progress to the principal or being on a roof and brainstorming ideas to resolve a detail with the architect and builder in order to keep the project moving forwards.
My experience as a contractor is proving valuable to my clients. As a ‘poacher turned game-keeper’ I can provide clear advice and insight into what the contracting team finds a challenge in delivering a project, and work with the whole team to provide solutions.
I have a passion for the history of art and architecture. In 2021, I was awarded a Merit from Oxford University in their Undergraduate Certificate in History of Art. I am a friend of The Royal Academy, a member of The Traditional Architecture Group and SPAB whilst being a father to four, husband to one and zoo keeper to many.
